where this came from.

Liane Hurvitz photographing herself in a mirror at home, pram beside her — black and white

Almost everything in this guide was photographed during my postpartum months, in our apartment — limited space, not much sleep, and one beautiful window of light. No studio. No props. If this way of seeing survived that season, it will survive yours.

I couldn’t keep everything. This is how I learned to keep something.

Message from a reader: Absolutely perfect. The way you’ve stepped out the guide so far has been beautiful. I’m wandering around the house inspecting the light — she said look for the light. A reader · after lesson one

Not my photograph. Hers.

Message from a reader: Update — husband is v. impressed with the photos I took today. What a gift! A reader · a week in
Message from a reader: I’ve been following a lot of photographers lately, but I also am enjoying getting better at taking photos of our kids, so the idea of a guide for that which wasn’t cheesy was so appealing. A reader · on why she bought it

Liane’s guidebook has changed the way I see not just my family, but the world as a whole. As I moved through each section I found myself aching a little for a do-over with some moments, wishing I could turn back time to capture them properly.

Casey · on finishing the guide

P.S. You know how this goes if you close this tab. Another month goes by, and you’ve missed the moment, the memory, and a time in your life that will never be lived again.

$69 gives you the exact tools to capture the life unfolding in front of you — beautifully, honestly and in a way that lasts.

The questions you may have

Do I need a real camera?

No. Almost everything in the guide was made on available light and works on a phone. Where a camera does something a phone can’t, I say so.

Do I need Lightroom?

Only for the two presets. The Lightroom app is free, works on your phone, and there’s a walkthrough. The lessons need nothing installed.

I’m not creative. Will this work for me?

Yes. This isn’t a gift some people are born with. It’s attention, and attention can be learned. That’s what the nine lessons teach.

How long does it take?

Lesson one takes ten minutes tonight. The rest is yours to work through at whatever pace suits — most people do one a week.

What arrives, and when?

Everything, the moment you pay: the PDF, both presets and the install walkthrough — on screen and by email. Nothing is posted. Nothing recurs.
